Work Package 3 - Communication and dissemination
WP3, led by EPRI, focuses on dissemination and knowledge sharing in the field of wind turbine blade recycling. The purpose of the dissemination activities is to create awareness around the IEA Wind Task 45 – Phase II results, and to share knowledge and expertise among wind turbine blade experts and recycling experts from industry, academia, and public authorities.
Subtask 3.1 – Dissemination creating awareness
Subtask lead: NCC
Scope: The goal of Subtask 3.1 is to create awareness on the IEA Wind Task 45 – Phase II results and outcomes through a series of events and webinars and will be coordinated by NCC. There will be one webinar every year during the whole period of the IEA Wind Task 45 – Phase II, at Months 10, 22, 34, and 46. The purpose for the participants in this task is to highlight the results of the IEA Wind Task 45 and leading expertise in the field of wind turbine blade recycling. I. These webinars will be open to all and advertised by all members.
Deliverables
- D3.1 – Webinars – Format: webinars (NCC – Month 10, 22, 34 and 46)
Subtask 3.2 – Conferences and special sessions
Subtask lead: DTU and WindEurope
Scope: The goal of Subtask 3.2 is to share expertise and knowledge among experts from industry, academia, and public authorities. This subtask will be executed via conferences, conference sessions, and workshops (Deliverable 3.2). The purpose for the participants in this task is to create a forum where knowledge can be shared across disciplines. This will be done by preparing, presenting, and chairing an international conference at DTU, the International Conference on Sustainable Wind Turbine Blades: New Materials, Recycling and Future Perspectives. In addition, there will be one half-day event organized jointly with WindEurope every year. This event will take place in Spring at the annual event of WindEurope or in the fall at the EOLIS conference (Deliverable 3.3).
Deliverables
- D3.2 – International conferences on the sustainability of wind turbine blades – Format: a 3-day conference (DTU – Month 1, 25, 48)
- D3.3 – Special event at WindEurope – Format: half-day event (WindEurope– Month 18, 28, 36 and 42)
Subtask 3.3 – Knowledge Hub
Subtask 3.3 lead: EPRI and University of Leeds
Scope: The goal of Subtask 3.3 is to create opportunities for universities, organizations, companies, etc. to network and consolidate and share information and experiences about recycling and end of life management of wind turbine blades. This subtask will take place during the whole period of the IEA Wind Task 45 – Phase II, from Month 1 to Month 48 and will be coordinated by the University of Leeds and EPRI. In subtask 3.3, virtual working group sessions will be developed and hosted covering several topics related to wind turbine blade recycling and end of life management leveraging the IEA Task 45 participant network. The working group sessions will be formatted to foster discussion of the topics and provide a platform for sharing emerging research on the selected wind turbine blade recycling and end of life management topics. A minimum of 4 working group sessions will be held every 12 months, with two sessions exclusively for IEA Task 45 participants and two sessions open to the wider blade recycling community, enabling the growth of the network with new participants. Additionally, as a part of subtask 3.3, we will collaborate with the three Horizon Europe projects – EoLO-HUBS, Refresh and Blades2Build – to contribute to a collaborative web-based knowledge hub for easy access to and consolidation of research and innovation projects, information, frameworks and tools, and publications related to wind turbine blade recycling and end of life management. The IEA Wind Task 45 contribution will specifically focus on preparing a meta database for wind turbine blade recycling, collating essential databases such as on material specifications, wind power deployment and lifecycle assessments for the development and implementation of solutions.
Deliverables
- D 3.4a – Two closed working group sessions per year, including written highlights and key takeaways of the discussion and information collected – Format: online events and word document report (EPRI – Month 12, 24, 36, 48)
- D 3.4b – Two open working group sessions per year, including written highlights and key takeaways of the discussion and information collected – Format: online events and word document report (University of Leeds – Month 12, 24, 36, 48)
- D 3.5 – A meta-database for wind turbine blade recycling, integrated into the shared “Horizon Europe” online knowledge hub (University of Leeds – Month 30)
