IEA Wind Task 43 Webinar Series – Ontology creation and publishing workshop for the wind energy sector
November 6:3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Why is this topic important?
Ontologies are structured frameworks that represent knowledge as a set of concepts within a domain and the relationships between those concepts. They are used to model the structure of information and facilitate understanding, sharing, and integration of knowledge across different systems and stakeholders. Ontologies are important in wind energy because they provide a standardised framework for representing and communicating complex information, enhancing interoperability among diverse systems and stakeholders. They enable the integration of heterogeneous data sources, support informed decision-making, and facilitate knowledge management.
Read more about knowledge representation, knowledge engineering and AI-based systems in wind energy in our paper “Knowledge engineering for wind energy“.
What are we going to talk about?
In this one-hour webinar, we will introduce you to the concept of ontologies, give you an update on our new ontology hosting portal TechnoPortal, and then run through the process for creating and publishing your own ontology on the TechnoPortal:
5’ Introduction to IEA Wind Task 43; Sarah Barber, Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences
15’ Introduction to ontologies and why they are important in wind energy; Yuriy Marykovskiy, Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences
30’ Demonstration of a process for creating and publishing your own ontology; Yuriy Marykovskiy, Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences
10′ Q&A
Why should you attend?
- Learn about ontologies and why they are important for wind energy.
- Hear about the needs of wind energy sector regarding interoperability and data sharing.
- Find out how to create and publish your own ontologies.
- Provide us with your inputs so that we can tailor our activities to your needs.
- Make some new contacts for future collaborations.
