Estimating Turbulence Statistics and Parameters from Ground- and Nacelle-Based Lidar Measurements

This expert report describes the state-of-the art in deriving turbulence data from ground-based and nacelle-mounted wind lidar.

Data from wind lidar can be used to calculate many different wind characteristics. But, because of the different measurement principles used compared to traditional anemometers the results might be different. This report explores the physics behind those differences and shows the many different ways in which lidar can be used to derive meaningful turbulence statistics.
