Task 2.1 Waste Prevention
The prevention of waste is understood as to how to design wind turbine blades for easier dismantling and recycling. This topic also includes production waste. In this subtask, new materials and alternative blade designs facilitating recycling will be reviewed. After updating recent reviews of state of the art, this Subtask will continue after Subtask 2.2. and 2.3 in order to collect experiences and recommendations from the recycling processes as performed nowadays. Some of the questions to be answered are: How to design wind turbine blades for easier recycling with new materials, new manufacturing processes, and /or new blade structure? And how do trace these new materials throughout their entire life cycle? What is the blade of the future made of? What could be the challenges in recycling them?
